Meet The Family

The Silver Dollar Saloon has been family-owned since 1943, serving quality food and drinks with a passion for tradition. His passion shines through every dish, and even the local pig farm benefits from his love for the Leadville community.

You will find the bar offers a carefully selected range of all-American wines, Colorado beers, and specialty whiskey, further reflecting Eric’s belief in staying local and supporting his community. Outside work, Eric travels the world, embracing cultures through their food and new culinary experiences.

A Walk Through Time

The Silver Dollar Saloon is a step back in time, with original features like the iconic windbreak, which once hid the saloon from the view of respectable women on the street. Beyond the windbreak, the original bar, crafted from mahogany and white oak, still stands. Imported from St. Louis in the 1800s, it arrived by covered wagon and train, with booths made from the train seats.

Notable Visitors

The Silver Dollar has hosted legends like Doc Holliday, who shot ex-policeman Billy Allen in 1884 but was found not guilty. He frequented the bar, often dealing cards or playing the piano. Molly Brown, known as "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," defied society’s expectations and was a regular at the saloon. Oscar Wilde also visited, humorously recalling a sign over a piano: "Please do not shoot the pianist. He is doing his best." Also, The Saloon is no stranger to the paranormal. A photo from the 1980s in the back room shows one of our resident ghosts, adding to the rich, mysterious history.
